Recently relocated to Toronto, violinist Patrick Goodwin, held the position of concertmaster of the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra from 2007 to 2019. Patrick has featured regularly as a soloist with the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra, University of Cape Town Symphony Orchestra, and in 2017 represented South Africa in the New York Philharmonic Global Orchestra Project at the Lincoln Centre.
A faculty member at the Stellenbosch International Chamber Music Festival and winner of the ATKV Ensemble Competition, Patrick is a keen chamber musician performing throughout South Africa as a founding member of the Bacharova Quartet, leader of the Juliet String Quartet and in collaboration with many acclaimed artists.
Born in Windhoek, Namibia, Patrick studied in Cape Town and Chicago where his principal teachers were Farida Bacharova and Olga Dubossarskaya Kaler.
From 2011 to 2018 he was adjunct lecturer in violin at the South African College of Music, University of Cape Town.
